Catching Up

It has been a while!

Words cannot express how happy I am to be writing this blog right now. It's been 3 years and there is no way I could explain to you guys, in a single sitting, everything that has happened during this time. I thought about it and i don't know if you would agree but I say we do one paragraph from the past, one about what is going on currently and one about plans for the future. So here goes .........

2015 was a really big year for me. It was the year we finally moved back into our home. We spent a lot of years living with other people and taking a lot of stuff. Making sure my parents are taken care of, is a really big deal for me and being able to ensure my mom has a place to live and be happy and comfortable means almost as much as my music career. Yea I had to take a break and take care of business but you know what? I'm young, I haven't gotten any less insane and I knew my life will be waiting for me. Obstacles are what you see when you take your eyes off the goal and being here in this moment right now, proves that you can accomplish whatever you set out to do not always immediately but eventually. I wanna say thank you to everyone that's been here and I can't wait to get my new stuff out. It's gonna be epic!

Currently there is a lot going on. The most important thing, I'm producing my own music now. My knowledge on sound engineering and music production up until last year was sub zero. Now, I have a list of things that I don't know, that is some serious progress and I'm totally impressed. Laugh my freakin' face off! I loved my first two singles and I'm eternally grateful to the guys that worked hard on it and me but it wasn't perfect and neither was I. Every time I submit my music somewhere, they say, make sure it's a track you're proud of and they aren't it, I can hear the imperfections and if I can hear it so can you. My new single "Is That Justified" which I wrote, sang and produced myself will be released on February 8th. I am so nervous for you guys to hear it, I hope you like. What I can say is that I'm really proud of it, I literally couldn't do anything more, there is nothing I could fix and I hope you feel the same way when you hear it.I hope you guys will be proud of it too.

There is a lot coming up, again just to go with one thing, I have already started working on the follow up single. The thing is I am smack dab in the middle of a music theory course. It's another certificate programme and it's on rhythm and something else  I should remember because I'm studying it but I don't. I'm really glad this was the next topic after introductory theory because it is the thing that I had the most problem with. This might make me sound really stupid but I didn't understand what rhythm was. I studied how to construct a song from scratch and they were like you do the beat first and then you lay down the rhythm and I'm thinking. What the hell is the difference? I was horrified but there is this open course at Yale where they teach you to listen to music properly and it is insane. They have us listening to Mozart and Beethoven and I was blown away, I'm still speechless actually.

It has really been an amazing period of time. I can't wait to tell you more the next time I'm able to post which should be in a week or two, till then, you guys rock, stay awesome!
